sGE: version 5.0

Many others will be doing their fair share of updates regarding what’s new of version 5.0, but heck! I wanna do my own!

First thing you see: the log in page~ Too bad the game is not able to record down screenshots taken at the login page, plus my moniter blocks off the bottom half of the whole game window so… Not gonna show you guys. Go log in and see for yourself. All I can say is that they refurbished the overall layout of the UI, so it just needs that little bit of getting used to. The Barracks looks extremely different now. Gone are the boxes at the bottom of screen, leaving more space to enjoy the full view of the room your characters reside in.

The Barracks of version 5.0

You can change the name of each of your different barracks, so that they no longer sound as dull as “1st Barracks”. Just simply double-click over the name and type in whatever you desire. Looking at the bottom now, you can freely change anyone in your team and go back to your previous map, unlike in the previous versions where you have to go back to your saved location after changing a new team. There’s also the button for your Team selections and basically, everything looks generally spiffy here!

Now on to the actual game UI itself now when you enter the world.

The revamped layout

Well, you’re gonna need some getting used to this layout, for everything’s changed! They’ve compressed everything that was previously found in the Menu drop-down into that middle section of buttons. Clicking on them will bring down even more options, so have fun poking around. One of the things that you’ve got to try is the character’s dress up room. In here, you can freely do any combination of costumes that the current version supports. You can find it under the green emblem, 5th from the right. The next thing you’ll notice is the additional screen that pops up whenever you log into a town, called “Town Movement (Alt+F3)”. You can use this to travel across the town if you happen to be too lazy to go run from the merchants to the Waypoint. And did I mention that this feature and all Waypoints are now free of charge? Only very slight changes to your characters UI, and whenever your character is able to get a brand new stance, the stance window will tell you so. They’ve also added the helpful feature of showing what level can your character attain a certain stance.

Now, the minimap at the top right-hand corner also has its changes. There’s now a server clock which will surely serve its purpose in knowing what time Team Arena starts when you’re over in another time zone. At the bottom you can take screenshots, change the music with the jukebox, ask for help and I’ve forgotten what the house icon does… The radio icon leads you to sGE’s Twitter page on your default browser.

Battle time~

The Battle UI

I don’t have much to say down here actually, it’s just two points. Firstly, you can have the option of permanently displaying the names of all the loot dropped by the monsters. If it gets onto your nerves (like me), just switch them off in the Options window in-game. Secondly, the small window that pops up showing the target you’re attacking is now way better than before: it shows you the class they belong to! Thanks to a pretty cute and straightforward icon on the left while the level is indicated on the right.

Well, that’s that! You can check out the rest of the version updates from the list below or go and poke around on your own. Have fun with the new Granado Espada!

On another (personal) note, Lulubell (Idge) made it to level 100. I am currently juggling between the main team of Vega, Soterius and Reever and manufacturer team of Valentine (Bernelli), Qain (Claude) and Aerith. La Templanza, La Fuerza and El Mago have been exchanged. Elite Camaryllis (Level 96) has been manufactured.
